A Valant Case Study
John F. Kennedy University, a nonprofit private university, faced the challenge of preparing its doctoral clinical psychology students for the modern workforce. Students were encountering roadblocks during their clinical training at external community health centers because they lacked experience with the electronic health record (EHR) systems used there. To provide this essential technological training and improve its own clinical operations, the university began a search for a specialized behavioral health EHR system, ultimately selecting Valant's EHR platform.
Valant implemented its SaaS behavioral health EHR system across the university's three counseling centers. Key features that met JFK University's needs included clinical outcomes measures via a patient portal, an efficient calendar for practice management, and integrated billing capabilities. The solution ensures all students are trained on the Valant EHR, better preparing them for their careers. This investment also enhances the university's clinical quality assurance, improves patient care through systematic case review, and enables the tracking of data required for billing, such as with Medi-Cal.
