Case Study: Hivos achieves stronger global collaboration and knowledge sharing with Valamis

Enforcing international cooperation with a global learning environment

Hivos is an international development organization headquartered in The Hague with five regional offices, projects in 27 countries and cooperation with 722 local partners. Faced with a basic intranet that limited social interaction, collaboration and partner access to internal courses, Hivos selected a Liferay Social Office intranet integrated with the Valamis eLearning experience platform to strengthen community and enable external partners to participate in learning.

Valamis was implemented alongside the renewed Liferay intranet to provide a scalable, open-source learning platform focused on social learning and knowledge sharing. As a result, Valamis became Hivos’ primary learning platform—making it easier to find people, collaborate across regions and share company DNA—and helped Hivos connect and collaborate more effectively across its global network of offices, projects and 722 partners.
