SMX, New Zealand’s largest locally owned email security provider (serving 1,000+ customers and ~1 million mailboxes), was struggling with a sharp rise in sophisticated, region-specific phishing attacks that its legacy fingerprint-based filter could not stop. Seeking a modern, automated approach, SMX selected Vade Secure’s Content Filtering SDK to add AI- and heuristics-driven detection to its email security, archiving, and platform services.

Vade Secure’s Content Filtering SDK was integrated into SMX’s layered stack (content filtering, quarantining, URL analysis, advanced rules, and reporting), producing immediate improvements in phishing detection during the proof-of-concept, higher catch rates, and a significant reduction in customer escalations and support requests. SMX worked with Vade Secure to fine-tune the engine for New Zealand nuances and subsequently rolled the solution into its multi‑tenanted platforms—replacing a legacy engine based on Vade Secure’s superior raw catch performance.
