Thessaly FloodHub Greece volunteers united against Cyclone Daniel using Ushahidi

The volunteer-led Thessaly FloodHub initiative faced the challenge of responding to the widespread devastation caused by Cyclone Daniel in Greece. They needed a way to quickly map flood events, assess damage, identify community needs, and coordinate relief efforts to aid in disaster recovery. To address this, they utilized the Ushahidi platform.

Using the Ushahidi platform, the team created a centralized system to collect photos and reports via a mobile app, web app, and email. This solution enabled the collection of 27 critical reports and interaction with 1,200 community members, providing real-time visual evidence and data that was vital for government agencies and NGOs to understand the situation and direct relief efforts effectively.
