How ClearCalcs Improves User Activation With Cohort Analysis

ClearCalcs, a SaaS platform for engineering calculations, needed a better way to help new trial users find the right calculator quickly and activate before dropping off. The company used Userpilot to support onboarding and understand how different segments of users behaved, especially because new users often felt overwhelmed by the number of calculation options.

Using Userpilot, ClearCalcs built personalized welcome flows, interactive in-app experiences, and cohort analysis to track activation by segment, role, goals, company size, and calculation type. This helped them test onboarding changes without dev work, identify where users were getting stuck, and improve activation for specific cohorts, including prompting email onboarding for added team members who were not logging in right away. ClearCalcs also reported an NPS of 53, but the case study does not provide a single quantified lift in activation rate.
