How absence.io Uses Analytics To Improve User Onboarding and Customer Experience

absence.io, an HR tool for managing employee absences (recently acquired by Shore), needed to turn free trials into engaged, paying customers by identifying and removing friction in their onboarding. To collect the right behavioral data and guide users through the product, absence.io partnered with Userlane and deployed Userlane’s in-app guidance and analytics during the trial flow.

Userlane delivered a full onboarding tour that acted as both a checklist and a virtual assistant, while providing step-level completion and engagement metrics. absence.io used those analytics to find confusing steps, optimize UI/UX, align support and product teams, and streamline activation. As a result, Userlane helped absence.io boost activation, conversion and retention rates, reduce onboarding friction, and improve overall customer satisfaction and MRR.
