Coast Hillcrest Hotel, a 75-room resort in Revelstoke, BC, needed a secure way to provide Internet and computer access for guests arriving without laptops. Vendor Userful addressed the challenge with Userful Desktop, an all-in-one public access computing solution designed for hotel business centers and guest use.

Userful implemented a plug-and-play setup with four independent workstations on one computer, complete with built-in office, web, privacy, and security tools, plus prepaid-card charging for pay-as-you-go access. The system was well received by guests and staff, generated shared revenue from prepaid cards, and helped the hotel deliver better customer service while reducing IT and administrative effort by up to 80%; the case study also reports electricity savings of 6,025.2 kWh and 9,339 lbs of CO2 avoided.
