It’s Complicated is a platform that helps people find the right therapist or counsellor and therefore processes highly sensitive health data. Faced with strict GDPR requirements for explicit, documented consent and the need to maintain user trust, It’s Complicated worked with Usercentrics GmbH to deploy a Consent Management Platform (CMP) to legally obtain, manage and document user consents.

Usercentrics GmbH (with partner Cortina Consult) implemented the CMP with EU-hosted consent storage, reporting and A/B testing to optimize opt-in flows. The privacy-wall variant delivered a 63.98% explicit opt-in versus 50.39% for a top banner — a 13.59% uplift — enabling GDPR compliance, better protection of sensitive data and higher opt-in rates for targeted marketing.
