Web Accessibility Peapod's Continued Commitment to their Customers

Peapod, an Ahold Delhaize USA online grocer with nearly 30 years of service and more than 40 million orders delivered across 24+ metro areas, has long offered accessible options like a screen‑readable site and phone ordering. After voluntarily entering a DOJ settlement, the company committed to meeting WCAG 2.0 A/AA standards, creating accessibility policies, soliciting user feedback, implementing automated testing, and meeting a September 2018 compliance deadline — so they sought a partner to help them meet those obligations.

Peapod engaged UsableNet for expert audits, user testing with people with disabilities, and to integrate the cloud‑based AQA testing platform into their DevOps pipeline. The combined manual and automated approach streamlined remediation, enabled continuous testing with each release, and produced immediate efficiencies; on May 11, 2018 the DOJ confirmed Peapod’s consumer‑facing interfaces were in compliance, and the company continues to use AQA going forward.
