Sports Direct, the UK’s leading sports retailer and owner of lifestyle brands including USC, needed a seamless mobile shopping experience for multi-channel customers. In 2016 they engaged Usablenet to build an ecommerce app but faced the challenge of integrating existing responsive mobile site pages (My Account, Registration and Checkout) into a native app while maintaining a consistent cross-channel user experience.
Usablenet built a high-performing HTML5 hybrid app that blends native screens—lookbooks, a location-aware store finder, robust filtering and intuitive product navigation—with SportsDirect.com’s responsive pages, and added U‑Control for dynamic content management. Launched in June 2016, the app draws about 5,000 regular users and maintains a monthly conversion rate above 10%, generating strong mobile revenue.
