Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance (MassMutual), a large mutual insurer with 1,800 offices and 13 million clients, needed mobile access to a key internal portal so its field sales team could be more efficient on the road. Legacy systems and firewall-bound applications made it difficult to expose sensitive customer data in a usable, mobile-friendly way, creating a clear workforce enablement challenge.

Working with Usablenet, MassMutual launched a mobile-optimized app mirroring the Fieldnet desktop portal, added mobile-only Account Lookup features, and later integrated SAML and OKTA for single sign-on across three systems. The solution gave thousands of employees secure mobile access to internal databases, improved productivity, and drove strong adoption—about 8,000 sessions and 40,000 page views from 3,000 users daily, with 75% returning users.
