A Usablenet Case Study

Preview of the Xoom Case Study

Enabling Seamless Omnichannel Experiences

Xoom is a digital money-transfer provider that helps customers send funds, pay bills and reload phones across 51 countries. Facing rapid mobile growth in 2011, Xoom’s challenge was to move its desktop service to mobile while overcoming security and multilingual barriers and making transfers faster and easier to drive acquisition and loyalty.

Xoom partnered with Usablenet to launch a streamlined mobile site and hybrid app, adding features like Quick Send, slide-to-send, transaction tracking, secure login via third‑party APIs, and continuous A/B testing and analytics. The mobile-first strategy materially improved performance and conversion: mobile transactions rose from ~40% in 2013 to roughly half by 2014, and by 2016 Xoom exceeded 1.5 million active customers with 67% coming from mobile, with mobile driving over 60% of online revenue.
