Targus, the global leader in mobile computing cases with 45 offices and 450 users worldwide, faced a fragmented, regionalized IT environment with no centralized IT department. The company needed to implement an ERP and globalize its communications, supply chain and financial systems without building a large in-house IT organization. Targus selected US Signal to lead the effort, leveraging solutions including Baan IVc (ERP), TLE EDI, Clippership logistics and Microsoft Exchange to standardize systems and processes.

US Signal conducted global site assessments, deployed a centralized technical environment and global network, and implemented Baan Finance and distribution with integrated EDI translation and freight management modules. Within 20 months US Signal had centralized Targus’ IT worldwide; EDI now manages 50 trading partners with no manual intervention (versus significant manual entry previously), monthly financial closes are faster and more accurate, inventory and production scheduling are visible globally, and logistics scaled without a matching increase in headcount.
