A US Signal Case Study
Banner Health, a 29-hospital system headquartered in Phoenix with more than 47,000 employees and over 300,000 patients served annually, needed a scalable, secure policy-management and access-control solution to support wired, wireless and VPN access across multiple states while meeting HIPAA requirements and enabling BYOD and guest access. To address this, Banner selected US Signal to implement an identity-based network access platform using Cisco’s Identity Services Engine (ISE) as the core technology.
US Signal designed and piloted the solution at five Banner locations—integrating two switches per site, up to five SSIDs, and nearly 750 wireless endpoints—then planned systemwide rollout to all 29 facilities across seven states. The implementation included 30,000-device ISE licensing for the pilot (with more than 100,000 licenses planned), integration with Banner’s network, desktop, Exchange and MDM environments, and knowledge-transfer sessions for ongoing operations. As a result, US Signal delivered comprehensive, policy-driven access for corporate and non-corporate devices, simplifying user access while maintaining HIPAA-compliant security.
