MercyOne Newton Medical Center, a rural hospital in Iowa, faced aging IT infrastructure, the sudden loss of key IT staff, tight budgets, and the need to modernize its Meditech medical records system during the pandemic. To address these challenges without a large capital outlay, MercyOne Newton engaged US Signal for managed services and a hardware-as-a-service approach to refresh networking, edge closets, storage, VMware, wireless, and Cisco UCS infrastructure.

US Signal mapped and documented the environment, provided on-site staffing to fill gaps, implemented core network, storage and VMware upgrades, retired legacy hardware via HaaS, and helped renegotiate software licensing and coordinate the Meditech migration. As a result, MercyOne Newton converted CapEx to OpEx, regained reliable, supported infrastructure, reduced internal staffing burden with cost-effective managed services, and achieved more predictable costs and improved compliance — putting the hospital on a sustainable path forward.
