Maine Public Service Company, a regulated utility serving more than 35,000 customers in Maine, faced persistent performance problems after deploying Oracle e-Business Suite 11.5.9—slow reports, broken functions (self-service time templates, recoverable tax), and poor overall system responsiveness. To stabilize its ERP environment and get long-term support, Maine Public Service Company engaged US Signal to manage the application environment and address the chronic Oracle performance issues.
US Signal upgraded the Oracle e-Business Suite to 11.5.10, redesigned the database to Oracle 10g, upgraded the operating system, and deployed more robust infrastructure—testing the application repeatedly and completing the production upgrade in six days. As a result, report processing fell from 1–2 hours to 15–20 minutes, project accounting times dropped to 20–30 minutes (from over an hour), response time improved from 10–15 seconds to about 3 seconds, and data queries fell from five minutes to 30 seconds or less; US Signal also entered a multi-year application management relationship to provide ongoing support.
