Techgate plc, a UK-based provider of high-availability IT managed services, wanted to strengthen its information security management and meet growing customer and tender demands for ISO 27001 certification. Although it already had a strong security-aware culture and had previously certified to BS 25999, it needed more formalisation, consistent risk management, and a clearer way to demonstrate its commitment to protecting customer data.

Techgate worked with URM and its Abriska risk assessment tool to carry out the ISO 27001-compliant risk assessment, build the Statement of Applicability and asset register, and guide the design of a pragmatic ISMS. URM also helped extend the company’s business continuity system and supported policy review and staff awareness. As a result, Techgate achieved ISO 27001 certification in summer 2013, improved incident reporting and visibility, strengthened physical and joiners/leavers controls, and gained a stronger sales differentiator with enterprise clients and tenders.
