Red Cross – Building a delivery network in two weeks

In March 2020, the French Red Cross launched “Red Cross at Your Home” to help vulnerable people during COVID-19 by arranging next-day delivery of essentials and medicines across France. To support this first nationwide delivery operation, it needed a fast, reliable delivery management system, and turned to Urbantz for delivery planning and optimisation.

Urbantz configured its last mile platform in just two weeks to centralize orders from the hotline, assign them to the right regional departments, optimize routes, and track volunteer deliveries through a mobile app. The result was nearly 8.3 thousand orders delivered over three months, around 40% of the French Red Cross’s total deliveries in that period, with some departments cutting daily planning time from 3–4 hours to just 10–20 minutes.
