Case Study: City of Ottawa achieves real-time corridor traffic management and improved LRT construction scheduling with UrbanLogiq

A UrbanLogiq Case Study

Preview of the City of Ottawa Case Study

Performing Real-Time Corridor Traffic Management and Analytics During LRT Construction

The City of Ottawa needed a way to measure and manage corridor traffic in near‑real time during its Stage 2 Light Rail Transit construction without costly, weather‑prone hardware sensors. The City of Ottawa engaged UrbanLogiq to deliver a software solution that leveraged live travel‑time data (via the Mapbox Directions API) to establish pre‑construction baselines and monitor congestion across defined road segments.

UrbanLogiq delivered a pre‑populated, cloud‑based geospatial platform with travel‑time updates (every ~5 minutes) tied to City road segments, enabling visualization, alerts, and integration of additional data layers. As a result, UrbanLogiq helped the City of Ottawa optimize road and lane closures, speed construction scheduling, save staff time, improve stakeholder communications, and keep the project on time and on budget.
