Case Study: AMBAG Streamlines Regional Scenario Planning with UrbanFootprint

A UrbanFootprint Case Study

Preview of the AMBAG Case Study

AMBAG Joins UrbanFootprint's California Civic Program

AMBAG, the Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments, needed a better way to support its upcoming Metropolitan Transportation Plan/Sustainable Communities Strategy (MTP/SCS) and streamline scenario planning across 18 cities and three counties. To help address this challenge, AMBAG joined UrbanFootprint’s California Civic program and began using the UrbanFootprint platform for planning and analysis.

With UrbanFootprint, AMBAG can help local jurisdictions create and evaluate planning scenarios in real time without prior GIS training, using standardized data sharing and built-in analytics. The vendor’s solution is expected to reduce the dozens of meetings and extensive staff time traditionally required for MTP/SCS updates, while also improving collaboration, supporting public participation, and providing fast analysis of impacts such as emissions, accessibility, resilience, household costs, and conservation.
