Preview of the DKB Case Study

DKB builds toward 2 million securities accounts with Upvest

DKB, the second-largest direct bank in Germany, sought to double its securities accounts to 2 million by 2030 as part of its "DKB 2030" strategy. The challenge was modernizing its investment infrastructure to accelerate innovation, improve the user experience, and lower operational costs to compete with digital-first challengers. To address this, the bank partnered with vendor Upvest, selecting its Investment API as the strategic infrastructure for its brokerage services.

The solution involved migrating all new securities accounts to Upvest's cloud-native platform from the end of 2026, with existing accounts to follow in 2027. This provided DKB with a scalable and automated platform for brokerage, custody, and settlement. By implementing Upvest's technology, DKB gained the foundation for a cost-efficient, digital-first user experience and the capability to continuously roll out new products, positioning the bank to achieve its ambitious 2030 growth targets.
