A Uptake Case Study
One of the world’s largest mining companies worked with Uptake to improve maintenance across its proprietary rail operations. Managing nearly 10,000 rail cars, the company faced costly downtime and operational disruption from unexpected railcar failures, making a more predictive and proactive maintenance strategy a strategic priority.
Uptake deployed Uptake Radar, using its industrial analytics library and rail-focused models to monitor wheel, bearing, and axle conditions from sources like WILD, WCM, HBD, and BAM data. Uptake identified up to $34 million in value over five years by providing earlier warning on failures, including about seven days’ notice for high-severity WILD alerts and 11 days for high-severity BAM alerts, helping reduce unplanned maintenance and cut previous railcar events by more than 50%.
