HotLok, working with Upsite Technologies, was looking for a simple way to improve airflow management in its data center, reduce cooling costs, and gain more capacity from existing infrastructure. The challenge was especially important because tighter budgets and rising utility costs made it necessary to preserve availability while avoiding expensive cooling upgrades.

Upsite Technologies implemented HotLok® Blanking Panels to seal unused openings in equipment cabinets and prevent hot exhaust air from recirculating to IT intakes. The result was an average 7°F reduction in intake-air temperatures, which allowed higher room temperature set points, fewer cooling units in operation, and significant savings: up to $137,395 in annual operating cost savings in one study and $30,594 in another, with simple payback achieved in as little as two to four months.
