Project Management Institute (PMI), a UK-based business improvement consultancy and training leader, wanted to convert its popular “Project Leader’s Handbook” into an online format to meet the growing demand for mobile access and eBook readers, especially on Kindle. The goal was to make the handbook easier to use on the go and help learners reinforce work management concepts just-in-time.

Upside Learning converted the handbook into both an InDesign version and a Kindle 2-compatible eBook, using HTML for the Kindle format and handling the layout design and text formatting from the content and diagrams provided by PMI. The result helped PMI reach a new segment of readers, enabled quick content updates, and increased readership, while also making the book compatible with Kindle 2 and more effective through included graphics.
