A Upside Learning Case Study
APIC, the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, needed an engaging course to help healthcare professionals better prevent and control infections in inpatient and outpatient hemodialysis settings. They wanted learners to identify best practices that reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections, while accommodating an audience already familiar with hemodialysis procedures and terminology.
Upside Learning developed a multimedia eLearning course with two modes: Learn and Play. The Learn mode delivered content through text, graphics, and images, while the Play mode used realistic, timed scenarios with interactivities like click-to-reveal and pick-and-drop to reinforce decision-making in lifelike dialysis environments. The result was a highly engaging, scenario-based course designed to improve learner understanding and application of infection-prevention practices, though no specific numerical impact was provided.
