The One-Stop Shop Marketplace at Avangrid

Avangrid (through subsidiaries NYSEG and RG&E) needed to boost customer satisfaction and drive energy savings across more than 40% of upstate New York customers. To address this, they partnered with Uplight, deploying Uplight’s Marketplace beginning in 2016 and Home Energy Reports (HERs) in 2019 to better engage customers and promote efficiency programs and products.

Uplight’s Marketplace created a one‑stop shop for LEDs, smart thermostats, EV chargers and other efficiency products with instant rebates and seamless enrollment in demand response programs, while Uplight’s HERs were used as a referral engine to drive purchases. The combined approach produced measurable impacts: HERs delivered over 16,000 MWh of electric savings as of 2023 and are projected to help save an estimated 69,000 MWh over the next two years; HER treatment customers were 25% more likely to buy a rebated product, and a 2023 promotion (with Google) drove 1,607 thermostat purchases—a 176% increase year‑over‑year.
