Leading Comprehensive and Innovative Utility Marketplaces Provider faced the challenge of boosting smart thermostat adoption and demand response enrollments during peak promotional windows to drive energy savings and grid flexibility. They engaged Uplight and its Marketplace solutions — including demand response pre-enrollment (DRPE) and tailored online storefronts — to create a focused Earth Day promotion that could scale across multiple utilities.
Uplight ran a multi-utility Earth Day campaign across 20 Marketplaces, bundling rebates and DR incentives, partnering with thermostat brands (Nest, ecobee, Honeywell, Emerson) and using digital and analog channels over a 2–5 week window. The results: more than 35,000 thermostats sold (a 25% YoY increase and 3X a single Black Friday day), at least an 8X uplift across Marketplaces and up to 46X uplift in DR pre-enrollment; promotional emails saw a 42% open rate, and customers gained potential cooling-bill savings of up to 15%. Uplight delivered the measurable sales and enrollment impacts.
