ComEd Marketplace, A Next-Generation Digital Platform for Consumers

Commonwealth Edison (ComEd), a unit of Exelon serving roughly 3.9 million customers in northern Illinois, needed to evolve into a “utility of the future” by delivering personalized, intuitive digital experiences and easier access to energy-saving products. To build an online storefront—the ComEd Marketplace for smart thermostats, LED lighting, connected-home devices and instant rebates—Commonwealth Edison selected Uplight as the software supplier for the Marketplace platform.

Uplight implemented the Marketplace e‑commerce solution (launched October 2016) with instant point-of-sale rebates, buyer’s guides, educational content and multi-channel outreach. The Uplight-powered platform attracted over 600,000 visitors and issued more than $4 million in rebates in its first year, increasing customer engagement and streamlining adoption of energy-saving technologies while advancing Commonwealth Edison’s digital transformation.
