Qualtrics, an experience management company serving over 13,000 customers, faced rising developer burnout and falling engagement after the shift to remote work. To quantify the problem and improve team effectiveness while preserving developer experience, Qualtrics adopted Uplevel and began using its engineering metrics—especially Always On (hours worked outside normal workday) and Deep Work (uninterrupted focus time).
Using Uplevel data, Qualtrics leadership and engineering manager Rohit Ramesh implemented targeted changes—improved sprint planning and retros, optimized schedules with “No Meeting Thursday,” more frequent check-ins, and encouragement to take time off. Uplevel showed Deep Work increased and Always On decreased, and Qualtrics’ quarterly engagement scores climbed from 73% to 83%, demonstrating measurable reductions in burnout risk and more productive focus time.
