Opn, an Asia-based financial solutions company, faced a common engineering challenge: high output and velocity that masked people-related issues like burnout, context switching, and slowed reviews across remote, rapidly growing teams. After finding traditional output-focused tools insufficient, Opn adopted Uplevel and began using Uplevel’s Sprint Health insights (including the Sprint Retro and Executive Dashboards) to surface and measure the people metrics that drive sustainable team performance.
Using Uplevel, Opn pinpointed three priority issues—context switching, PRs merged without approval, and story-point accuracy—then ran Sprint Retros to set goals and ultimately hired a full-time Scrum Master to sustain process improvements. Tracked in Uplevel, story-point health rose from 27 to 90, PRs merged without approval improved from concerning to excellent, context switching moved to a more positive level, overall sprint health shifted from concerning into the good range, and average cycle time decreased. Uplevel continues to provide the dashboards and data Opn uses to monitor progress sprint-over-sprint.
