SEIU Local 2015 and BerlinRosen Use Text Messaging to Dramatically Raise Unionization Rates

SEIU Local 2015, the largest home care and nursing home workers’ union in the U.S., needed a way to reach and mobilize shift-based, often multilingual nursing home employees who had limited Internet access and unpredictable schedules to increase unionization at care sites.

Working with BerlinRosen and Upland Mobile Messaging they launched a multilingual, shift‑segmented SMS campaign using motivational videos, GIFs, user‑generated content and targeted election reminders to counter misinformation and drive turnout. The effort boosted their win rate from about 50% to 89% (8 wins out of 9 campaigns) and has been expanded across the organization.
