The Sacramento Kings, an NBA franchise filling over 13,000 seats per game, wanted to turn intense in-arena engagement into ongoing fan relationships and more direct revenue opportunities. To do this they partnered with Upland Mobile Messaging to find a better way to capture and communicate with fans beyond game time.
At games the Kings broadcast simple calls-to-action asking fans to text in for scores, breaking news, seat issue reports, exclusive offers and contests; Upland tracks responses and enables easy list segmentation. The mobile program let the team send targeted offers (for example a 15% off ticket auto-reply redeemed at the arena) and generated roughly $10–$12 in incremental sales per mobile contact, outperforming social channels and steadily growing attendance and revenue.
