Planned Parenthood partnered with Upland Mobile Messaging to reach uninsured Americans and drive sign‑ups before the Affordable Care Act open enrollment deadline. Despite door‑to‑door canvassing and large events, many eligible people—particularly young adults, Hispanics, and lower‑income families—had not yet enrolled and needed timely, accessible assistance.

Using a bilingual SMS short code, people texted their ZIP code to receive the nearest enrollment location; replying "CAN" confirmed attendance and "CANT" routed the caller to a Planned Parenthood representative for phone assistance. The effort generated 949 texters (48% Spanish speakers), immediately connected 18% to in‑person sites, and led 28% of respondents to begin the enrollment process with certified application help.
