The City of Vaughan, a rapidly growing Ontario municipality, faced inconsistent project delivery, loss of institutional knowledge from vendor dependence, and no consistent way to record or track project information. IT Management recognized the need to do project work better and sought a tool and methodology to bring consistency and accountability across its expanding portfolio.
Vaughan mastered a PMI-based project management methodology, secured executive buy-in, published a project management manual on the intranet, and implemented Eclipse PPM by Upland as a centralized repository. The result was improved communication and senior-management reporting, greater control over many more projects, aligned expectations and responsibilities, and streamlined processes across the organization.
