PPG Industries, a global coatings and materials company, needed better visibility into how IT products and services were consumed and charged across business units. Its internally developed chargeback system provided limited detail, forcing IT to spend time collecting data and leaving managers without the accurate consumption and cost insights required for informed decision‑making.

PPG implemented Upland’s ComSci ITFM (Bill of IT, Demand Management, and Analytics & Reporting) and used ComSci’s BPaaS for data aggregation, creating a unified global chargeback process and demand‑based budgeting. The solution delivered accurate, detailed financials and forecasting, enabling managers to track and validate charges, control demand, change consumption behavior and ultimately reduce overall IT spend.
