Law Firm Forges Ahead in Ambitious Quest to Permanently Replace the Paper File

Jackson Walker LLP, a Texas law firm with 370+ attorneys and seven locations, set out to permanently replace paper files as part of a relocation to a smaller Dallas office. Faced with more than 15,000 linear feet of paper storage across five floors and a 27% smaller footprint at the new 104,000 sq ft office, leadership pursued an all-digital strategy to cut costs, improve mobility and access, and mitigate risk.

The firm integrated AccuRoute with its iManage DMS, using embedded cover sheets, MFP scanning, OCR and compression, plus practice-group workflows and local champions supported by upgraded IT infrastructure. Scanning began in March 2015; at the October 2015 move only ~3,700 linear feet were transferred and on-site storage has been reduced to about 2,500 linear feet (an ~80% cut), with improved remote access, simultaneous file use, and major projected savings from a ~90% reduction in offsite storage.
