Get Schooled is a national nonprofit that helps low-income high school students navigate classes, SAT prep, college applications and financial aid. Faced with the challenge of reaching and motivating busy teens, the organization gamified the college-prep journey, partnered with celebrities to boost engagement, and leaned on SMS as a primary communication channel to deliver timely, relevant support.
They run four targeted text programs (Academic Text Journey, College Text Hotline, Breakfast Club and SAT Daily), integrate SMS with a gamified website and agent chat for personalized counseling, and use student conversations to produce timely content. The approach has attracted over 75,000 subscribers, driven 8 million site visitors and 50 million page views, and helped tens of thousands of students—64% of alumni report enjoying the experience and about half say Get Schooled played an important role in their success.
