Wheatbelt Inc. is a stockholder-owned buying group that serves hundreds of member retailers and manages billing for about 1,400 vendors. Faced with tubs of paper, manual routing and peak volumes of up to 1,500 invoices a day, the organization saw rising operating costs and slow member service—vendor adjustments could take up to 60 days—so it needed a way to eliminate paper and improve responsiveness without increasing staff or fees.

Working with Select Imaging, Wheatbelt implemented Upland’s FileBound to scan documents, deploy e-forms (eVAR), automate workflows and integrate with its ERP. The result: processing of roughly 300,000 documents annually with vendor invoice turnaround cut from 3 days to 8 hours and vendor adjustment/credit memo processing reduced from 60 days to 1 day—dramatically faster member response, no added staffing or pricing, eliminated paper storage and improved morale and disaster recovery.
