They piloted SMS appointment reminders with simple reply options (YES/NO/STOP) and follow-up rescheduling by staff. Texted donors were 57% more likely to respond (66% vs. 42% by phone), 28% more likely to confirm appointments (≈44% vs. 34%), and about 80% more likely to reschedule when needed; Blood Systems is expanding the program for more targeted outreach.
