RunKeeper Drives User Engagement With Localytics A/B Testing

RunKeeper is a leading health and fitness app with over 25 million users that set out to expand beyond running to track activities like yoga, cycling and weight lifting. With an agile product team releasing updates every few weeks, RunKeeper needed fast, user-level analytics to segment users, measure how design changes affected engagement, and replace slow, spreadsheet-based reporting.

RunKeeper implemented Localytics for multi-dimensional, user-level analysis and A/B testing of a redesigned start screen. Using funnel and segment analysis, the winning variation drove a 235% increase in non-running activities logged per user and was ten times more effective at prompting non-running event logs, enabling faster, data-driven product decisions and ongoing experimentation.
