A Upland Localytics Case Study
Onefootball, a Berlin-based app for football fans offering live scores, highlights and personalized news from 100+ leagues, faced a seasonal engagement challenge: users were at risk of churning during the offseason and the team needed a way to identify and proactively re-engage high-risk users before they became inactive (churn = 30+ days without opening the app).
Using Localytics Predictions, Onefootball analyzed behavioral patterns to build a custom model that segmented users into high, medium and low churn-risk groups, then ran targeted push campaigns (with control/experiment testing) to re-engage at-risk users with personalized content. The effort reduced churn by 7.5%, delivered deeper user insights, and created a repeatable, scalable anti-churn strategy.
