Case Study: MyFitnessPal achieves a 3% increase in daily food logs per user with Upland Localytics

A Upland Localytics Case Study

Preview of the MyFitnesspal Case Study

MyFitnessPal Trusts Localytics for Granular, Real-Time Analytics that Scale

MyFitnessPal, the leading calorie-counting app with over 65 million users and a database of 4+ million food items, needed granular, real-time analytics to fine-tune its product experience for millions of users. The product team’s challenge was measuring how small interface changes affected user engagement — particularly making it easier and faster to log food — without losing data fidelity at scale.

Localytics provided unlimited, real-time event and attribute tracking across MyFitnessPal’s native apps and website, giving marketing, engineering, and product teams the dashboards and filtering they needed. Using Localytics to optimize the iOS “Diary” screen (reducing clicks and screens required to log food) drove a 3% increase in daily food logs per user, a change later rolled out to Android, and set MyFitnessPal up to measure future releases like a Recipe Importer.
