JAFCO (Jewish Adoption and Foster Care Options) operates multiple buildings across two campuses and provides childcare, adoption, foster care and life-skills services. When Michael Moran took over facilities, the maintenance process was chaotic — paper work orders, mixed communications, low technician morale and spreadsheets that only he could manage — producing slow response times and poor visibility. To address this, JAFCO adopted UpKeep’s mobile-first CMMS.
UpKeep was rolled out after a 30-day trial and focused training, bringing technicians and external vendors into a single requester-and-work-order workflow. The UpKeep implementation cut average response time from over 80 hours to under 8 hours, drove technicians to close almost 300 work orders in three months, improved morale (promotions and raises), and enabled tracking of expenses, vendors and recurring warranty/inspection tasks — plus faster emergency responses (e.g., gate fixed in 20 minutes).
