Case Study: HMSHost achieves predictive, remote temperature monitoring and faster maintenance with UpKeep Sensors

A UpKeep Case Study

HMS Host - Customer Case Study

HMSHost, a global restaurateur operating in more than 120 airports and 80 travel plazas, faced frequent reactive maintenance for walk-in freezers and refrigerators—exhaust fans and refrigerant failures were only discovered during manual, time-based inspections. Already using UpKeep Maintenance Management to streamline work orders, HMSHost turned to UpKeep Sensors (temperature sensors) to move from reactive to predictive maintenance.

UpKeep deployed temperature sensors that Ung Ho at LAX set up in about two hours, immediately providing meter readings, real-time alerts, and automated UpKeep work orders when thresholds were exceeded. Within days the sensors uncovered high-temperature readings that led to diagnosis of a broken exhaust fan and an empty refrigerant line, preventing likely freezer failures, eliminating clipboard-driven walkthroughs, and enabling remote monitoring and faster technician assignment.
