A UpKeep Case Study
The Trust for Governors Island, a nonprofit that maintains nearly 180 acres with a six-person crew, faced large travel times, inefficient paper-based communication, and limited visibility into labor and maintenance costs. To solve these challenges they trialed and adopted UpKeep’s CMMS, seeking a mobile, easy-to-use system that would work for a fast-moving, not-necessarily tech‑savvy team.
UpKeep provided mobile work orders, time tracking, photo updates, and asset/vehicle check-in (including barcoding), consolidating communication and automating reporting. The Trust for Governors Island increased productive work time from about four hours to five–six hours per day, quantified interruptions and non-core work (fence installation accounted for roughly 20% of time), improved equipment maintenance tracking, and gained the data needed to justify staffing and plan future work — all enabled by UpKeep.
