A UpKeep Case Study
Foertmeyer and Sons, a greenhouse and equipment-focused grower that scaled its chrysanthemum program to roughly 300,000 plants per year, faced challenges managing cyclical, seasonal maintenance across limited space and equipment. Information was largely paper-based or in the heads of one or two people, which made scheduling, preventive maintenance, and cost visibility difficult. At the beginning of 2020 Foertmeyer and Sons implemented UpKeep’s mobile-first solution for its four maintenance technicians to address these gaps.
Using UpKeep, Foertmeyer and Sons organized asset records, tracked technician time and repair costs, and introduced checklists and work orders to streamline work and accountability. The vendor’s solution boosted preventive maintenance from about 10% of workload to roughly 50%, improved transparency in labor and material costs (including purchase orders for the CFO), shortened onboarding to about six weeks, and made it far easier to restart projects after busy shipping periods.
