Charter School Network Captures Data for Better Contract Negotiations

Charter School, a network of high-performing, tuition‑free public charter schools in a major metropolitan area, was struggling with growing facility maintenance issues and poor back‑end data. Staff were submitting requests via limited Google forms, causing slow, centralized prioritization and frequent teacher and principal complaints. To fix this, the system selected UpKeep’s mobile‑first computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

UpKeep rolled out a request portal and technician app that lets teachers upload photos, managers prioritize and assign work orders quickly, and requesters receive updates and provide feedback. The vendor also enabled preventive maintenance scheduling and advanced analytics so the schools can track maintenance histories, costs, mean time to repair, and parts spend. As a result, communication and response times improved, CEO interruptions declined, reactive work decreased, and the Charter School network now uses UpKeep’s data to inform budgeting and stronger contract/lease negotiations.
