A UpKeep Case Study
Brew Dr. Kombucha was growing quickly but had very little organized maintenance: no preventive maintenance program, no asset management, no spare parts inventory, and requests were often verbal or stored in spreadsheets. When Ryan Still joined as Maintenance Manager he evaluated computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and started a free trial of UpKeep to establish a formal work request system and begin building out maintenance best practices.
Using UpKeep, Brew Dr. Kombucha implemented work requests, preventive maintenance schedules, asset records with manuals and floor-scannable stickers, and spare-parts tracking with automatic purchase orders. The improvements helped the plant move from celebrating roughly 100 pallets/day to consistently hitting 140–150 pallets/day, enabled many repairs to be completed in 10–15 minutes, cut expensive expedited parts costs (critical given an estimated downtime cost of $2,500 per hour per line), and set the company up to pursue predictive maintenance next.
