Hovis, after becoming a standalone business in 2014, faced an IT landscape and legacy promotion tools that couldn’t support high-volume, low-margin bread operations: users relied on multiple systems and offline spreadsheets, with large parts of customer investment missing from the systemized P&L. To gain near‑real‑time financial visibility and accelerate S&OP and revenue management, Hovis selected UpClear and deployed its BluePlanner Revenue Management solution.
UpClear implemented BluePlanner as a “one‑stop shop” for sales and commercial planning, integrating data, simplifying workflows and driving change across process and people. The project delivered measurable benefits: budgeting that once took six weeks (Tesco annual plan) was completed in about 1.5 hours, planning time was dramatically reduced, full P&L and trade‑spend ROI visibility (including cannibalisation) was achieved, and financial controls improved to the satisfaction of external auditors — enabling faster, fact‑based commercial decisions.
