MEEO improves flood preparedness for tens of thousands with UP42

The customer, MEEO, a consultancy firm, was contracted by ENTRO to improve disaster preparedness for flooding along the Nile. The challenge was to create a hydrological model to map evacuation routes, but collecting elevation data across remote and conflict-prone areas of Ethiopia, Sudan, and South Sudan was difficult and unsafe. MEEO used the UP42 platform to find a solution.

Via the UP42 platform, MEEO ordered high-resolution Pléiades satellite imagery to generate precise digital terrain models. This data was combined with other sources to build the model and map safe zones. As a result, MEEO used Earth observation for all areas, eliminating dangerous field surveys and establishing safety protocols that improved disaster preparedness for tens of thousands of people. The customer praised UP42 for its responsive support and automated process.
